We are now testing 3D printing of protective shields to support the local hospital and care staff in the Åland Islands. Optinova´s Innovation Center uses a 3D printer to do quick prototyping in order to support in-house development of our extrusion equipment. However, the Covid-19 pandemic created an urgent need in for more protective ware and here you can see is the result of collaborative dialogues with local educational institutes, the hospital and Optinova´s engineers, based on the innovative idea and design by 3Dverkstan. As a future step we are exploring how we can use re-cycle pure scrap material from our extrusion production – making all available material count.
