Select the perfect material for your application:
PTFE
Why use it:
PTFE offers excellent high-temperature capability, ultra-low friction, and outstanding chemical resistance. That makes it a strong choice where reliability is critical and media or operating conditions are especially aggressive.
Trade-offs:
It comes with higher material cost and more demanding processing than melt-processable fluoropolymers.
Typical heavy duty transportation use case:
Brake hose liners, chemical fluid sealing solutions, aggressive fluid paths, fire hose liners, and high-temperature low-friction applications in commercial and off-highway vehicles.
FEP
Why use it:
FEP combines good chemical resistance, strong dielectric performance, transparency, and low friction. It is particularly useful where visibility, insulation performance, or smooth flow adds value to the system design.
Trade-offs:
It is less mechanically tough than ETFE and can be too premium for broad, cost-sensitive applications.
Typical heavy duty transportation use case:
Sensor tubing, cable liners, transparent monitoring lines, selected chemical fluid sealing solutions, and low-friction protective sleeves.
PVDF
Why use it:
PVDF provides good mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and a strong cost-performance balance. It fits applications where durability and dimensional stability matter more than maximum temperature capability.
Trade-offs:
It has lower heat capability and higher friction than PTFE or PFA.
Typical heavy duty transportation use case:
Semi-rigid protective tubing, battery-adjacent parts, cable management, and durable chemical fluid sealing solutions for commercial vehicle systems.
ETFE
Why use it:
ETFE is very tough, abrasion resistant, and well suited to thin-wall constructions. This makes it highly attractive for wire, cable, and protective tubing applications in vehicles exposed to vibration, routing stress, and mechanical wear.
Trade-offs:
It is stiffer than FEP and not ideal where ultra-low friction is the main requirement.
Typical heavy duty transportation use case:
Harness protection, wire insulation, underhood sleeves, and rugged hose or tube covers in demanding heavy duty vehicle environments.
PFA
Why use it:
PFA delivers PTFE-like chemical and temperature performance while also being melt-processable, which is attractive for precision extruded tubing. It is a strong option when both processability and premium performance are important.
Trade-offs:
As a premium material, it is most relevant for demanding rather than mainstream applications.
Typical heavy duty transportation use case:
Chemically aggressive fluid-handling tubing, chemical fluid sealing solutions, sensor protection, premium underhood tubing, and selected fire hose applications.
PEEK
Why use it:
PEEK offers very high mechanical strength, wear resistance, and temperature capability. It is most relevant where the design requires a premium engineering polymer with potential to replace heavier materials in selected components.
Trade-offs:
It is expensive and best suited to niche high-performance designs rather than broader tubing volume applications.
Typical heavy duty transportation use case:
Specialized sensor tubing, structural tube components, wire protection, and demanding underhood applications.
